NCI creates AI leadership role, hires CrossChx's Mascho

NCI Inc. said Tuesday it has created a new position of chief artificial intelligence officer and has hired for that role Brad Mascho, founder of AI firm CrossChx.

Mascho's appointment at NCI comes nearly three months after the Reston, Virginia-based government IT contractor partnered with CrossChx to bring the latter's commercial AI product into the federal marketplace. Columbus, Ohio-based CrossChx designed its Olive product to automate repetitive, high-volume tasks and workflows.

In October, NCI CEO Paul Dillahay told Washington Technology that his company and CrossChx are undertaking pilots with the CrossChx platform at the Army and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

At NCI, Mascho will lead the company's AI division in efforts to create offerings that accelerate, automate and augment repeatable processes for customers with the goal to turn data into actionable intelligence.

Mascho co-founded CrossChx in 2012 and it has since partnered with hundreds of health care systems on AI projects. CrossChx also developed a secure global identity layer of more than 70 million unique patient identifiers, found millions of medical record errors and helped combat abuse of prescription opioids.

He will remain on CrossChx's board of directors.
