Serco's Americas arm closes BTP Systems acquisition

Serco Group's subsidiary for the Americas region completes its acquisition of defense technology services company BTP Systems.

Serco Group said Friday its Americas region subsidiary has completed the acquisition of defense technology services provider BTP Systems in a deal that adds new work on military satellite and radar systems.

First announced in October, Serco Inc. paid $20 million to acquire BTP and add new work with defense agencies such as the Air Force and Navy.

BTP focuses on services that help extend the lives of existing military satellite and radar systems, plus the insertion of new technology through phased upgrades.

Reston, Virginia-based Serco Inc. and its British parent also touted the addition of BTP as part of efforts to enhance capabilities in “C5ISR” -- command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

BTP expected to record almost $20 million in revenue this year and $3 million earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization expenses. The company was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Ludlow, Massachusetts.

Serco Inc. recorded $944 million in sales for 2016 to represent roughly one-fourth of all revenue across the Serco Group enterprise. Serco Group is scheduled to report full-year financial results for 2017 on Feb. 22.
