Tanium, WWT land $750M cyber contract from DOD Silicon Valley hub

Emeryville, Calif.-based cyber company Tanium and its partner World Wide Technology have received a potential five-year, $750 million contract from the Defense Department’s Silicon Valley outfit to provide managed cybersecurity services to federal agencies.

The Defense Innovation Unit Experimental organization disclosed the production-Other Transaction Authority contract in its latest quarterly summary of awards posted Oct. 28. DIUx finalized the contract with Tanium and WWT on Sept. 25 and the base value is $35 million.

Each tasking order is a one-year commitment that can be renewed each year, a WWT spokesperson told Washington Technology.

For this contract, the Army Network Enterprise Technology Command wants to use Tanium’s endpoint security management product for near real-time visibility and control over roughly 1.2 million network endpoints.

The Army seeks to combine Tanium’s tool with the managed service of WWT in order to support size and complexity of the branch’s network, according to DIUx.

St. Louis-based WWT provides technology and supply chain services to federal agencies.

Altogether, DIUx has awarded almost $184 million for 59 pilot contracts and two follow-on production contracts since May 2016. This round of awards focused on autonomy, artificial intelligence, human systems, IT and space.

For every $1 DIUx spends on a pilot project, DOD partners in the military services and combatant commands spend at least $4. The industry partner funds the entirety of production contracts awarded by DIUx.
