CSRA books $51M Navy 'VirtualShip' order

CSRA will deploy its "VirtualShip" training software on a Navy Littoral Combat Ship under a $51 million delivery order.

CSRA has won a three-and-a-half year, $51 million delivery order to build and provide a tactical trainer for the Navy’s sixth Littoral Combat Ship vessel.

The VirtualShip integrated tactical trainer is intended for the LC6 6 Independence variant USS Jackson, CSRA said Tuesday. USS Jackson was built by Austal USA and commissioned in December 2015.

VirtualShip is a ship and systems simulation software package with hydrodynamics, maritime environmental modeling and other features for integration with external systems and simulations.

Customers that use VirtualShip include the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, plus the British Navy. CSRA says VirtualShip is currently in use on at least 300 different ship types across 100 geographic areas.
