Enlightenment Capital backs IT security firm CyberCore

Washington-based government market investor group Enlightenment Capital has made an investment in federal IT security company CyberCore Technologies to support its expansion efforts.

Details on terms and size of the investment were not disclosed in Enlightenment’s Wednesday announcement. Elkdridge, Md.-based CyberCore is seeking new customers and sought additional backing for that growth strategy.

This is Enlightenment’s 16th investment since it raised a debut fund of $80 million in 2014. The firm closed another $147 million fund in 2016 and has made four investments so far this year in CyberCore, Telos, 1901 Group and Cadmus.

Enlightenment focuses on middle-market businesses in the aerospace, defense and government services arena. The firm also backed defense and intelligence IT contractor Vistronix for four years and through six acquisitions until its sale in August of last year to ASRC Federal.

Led by CEO Tina Kuhn and founded in 2000, CyberCore provides technical services and supply chain security management offerings to government and commercial organizations.

New York City-based private equity firm Moelis Capital acquired Cybercore in July 2011 from Roark Capital for an undisclosed sum.
