Navy hands down four spots on population health analytics contract

The Navy chooses four companies on a potential five-year, $22.6 million contract for data analytics services to support population health management functions.
The Navy has chosen four companies for a potential five-and-a-half year, $22.6 million contract to carry out data analytics services in support of the branch's population health management strategies.
Booz Allen Hamilton, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Altarum Institute and Kennell and Associates will vie for task orders to work with the Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. The Naval Supply Systems Command awarded the contract for the bureau and received 12 offers, the Defense Department said in its Monday contracts digest.
Booz Allen is a new participant on this iteration of the contract and the other three awardees will continue the work as incumbents.
A Deltek description of the contract lists task areas as including:
- Central data systems consulting and extraction services
- Education and training
- Funding adjustment models
- Geographic information systems analysis and geomapping support
- Metrics
- Program analysis, cost analysis and value analysis
Awardees will work to identify data needs for projects, figure out how to obtain that data and seek to understand both the business context and business processing rules behind the data in the major Military Health System central data repositories, according to Deltek.
Contractors will also provide education across the Navy Medicine enterprise, conduct studies and analyze health care topics for MHS and Navy Medicine.
The Navy Bureau of Surgery and Medicine aims to systematically examine operational process efficiencies and population health management strategies, plus the quality of medical care and event outcomes with respect to near- and long-term resource consumption.
Work will take place through up to March 2023 at contractor facilities across the U.S. and at the bureau's headquarters in Falls Church, Va.
