Leidos has won a potential five-year, $98.4 million contract to help establish and manage panels that advise the government on biomedical research funding applications.
The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity awarded the contract first disclosed in a FedBizOpps notice July 31. Leidos said Thursday the contract has a one-year base ordering period and four one-year options.
Work under this contract will support the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, which launched in 1992 to facilitate new approaches for biomedical research in support of stakeholders such as U.S. citizens, the military and Congress.
CDMRP has managed almost $10 billion in total appropriations since inception for medical research initiatives, according to solicitation documents for the contract. Leidos and the pre-split Science Applications International Corp. have supported the CDMRP program since.
Leidos will advise leadership and government program managers on potential applications for research funding, the company said.
Task areas for the contract include:
- Program meeting support
- Scientific support
- Administrative support
- Publicity services
CDMRP's goals include investments in new research, application reviews, consumer advocate participation and identification of new researchers and scientists. CDRMP also is intended to fund the full pipeline of research development in the basic, translational and clinical domains.
