Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies wins potential $1B NASA mission support contract

Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies has won potential eight-year, $1.12 billion contract to support mission operation systems NASA uses to help run spaceflight programs.

The Mission Systems Operations Contract has a start date of Oct. 1 for an initial two-year base period. MSOC has three additional two-year options through up to Sept. 30, 2015 that would extend the contract to its full ceiling value.

According to Deltek, the predecessor contracts were held by Lockheed Martin's IS&GS business that merged into Leidos last year and Raytheon. SGT competed against both incumbents for the new contract, a company spokesperson told Washington Technology.

MSOC covers technical and administrative services in areas such as IT, cybersecurity, ground system communications networks, hardware, software and facility management, Deltek says.

Programs within the contract's domain include the International Space Station, Orion, Space Launch System and the Commercial Crew Program.
