Navy awards four spots on potential $492M network support contract

The Navy gives four companies positions on a potential eight-year, $492.4 million contract to produce units and supplies in support of its wide area network on shore and ships.
Four companies will compete for delivery orders under an eight-year, $492.4 million Navy contract to produce units and other supplies for the branch's tactical wide area network.
The Navy received four bids for the contract that was awarded as a recompete of the Automated Digital Network System – Increment III awarded to Serco's Americas subsidiary in 2012.
Serco Inc. retains its position under the new iteration and additional awardees are DRS Laurel Technologies, Leidos and Science Applications International Corp.
ADNS Increment III aims to connect surface ships, submarines, airborne, tactical shore and shore-based platforms to the tactical WAN component of the Navy's communications system.
This iteration also seeks to help users access higher bandwidth available with newer satellite communication systems.
