iWorks brings aboard intell community vet Sowell as COO

Reston-based IT services outfit iWorks hires three-decade intelligence and national security sector veteran Charlie Sowell as chief operating officer.

Reston, Va.-based IT services contractor iWorks has appointed three-decade intelligence community and national security sector veteran Charlie Sowell as chief operating officer.

Sowell is a former deputy assistant director for special security from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. He also acted as program executive for security clearance reform at ODNI during his government services career.

At iWorks, Sowell will oversee its business development efforts as the company pursues potential opportunities in the personnel security, insider threat, security clearance reform and background investigation technology markets.

IWorks provides business management process and systems integration services to government and commercial entities. The company's federal customers include ODNI and six Cabinet-level departments: Defense, Homeland Security, Justice, Transportation, Treasury and Housing and Urban Development.

More recently, Sowell held a senior vice president role at Salient CRGT. His private sector career also includes executive positions at SRA International, Orion Scientific Systems and McDonald Bradley.
