DLT CEO out, former chief returns as interim lead

Alan Marc Smith leaves DLT Solutions after nearly two years as its CEO and former chief Rick Marcotte has returned to lead the company in the interim.

Alan Marc Smith has left DLT Solutions after two years as CEO of the public sector IT product reseller and has been succeeded in the interim by former chief Rick Marcotte, IT industry trade publication CRN first reported Thursday.

The move comes nearly two years after private equity firm Millstein & Co. purchased Herndon, Va.-based DLT and subsequently appointed Smith as its chief executive. As part of that transaction, Marcotte shifted to vice chairman after the nine prior years as CEO.

According to CRN, DLT's board is in the search process and plans to hire a new CEO "in the near future."

Close to three-quarters of DLT's revenue is in the federal market and the remaining sales come from state, local and education customers, CRN says.

DLT Solutions came in 56th in Washington Technology's Top 100 ranking for 2016 with nearly $358 million in prime contracting dollars.
