Accenture adds former Army intell leader to leadership ranks

Accenture’s federal government subsidiary has appointed retired Army Lt. Gen. Mary Legere to lead the national and defense intelligence unit as managing director.

Legere retired from the Army last year after a 33-year career and her career includes time as the service branch’s highest-ranking intelligence officer. She led 58,000 Army intelligence staffers across 140 countries and that included its 17,000-person Intelligence and Securities Command.

She will oversee Accenture Federal Services’ efforts to bring secure digital, mission analytics and agile development offerings to the subsidiary’s national defense intelligence and cyber customers.

This is AFS’ third major appointment of a former senior government official it has announced in nearly eight months.

The subsidiary said in September it hired former CIA Chief Technology Officer Gus Hunt as cyber practice head. Later in October, AFS revealed its appointment of former National Security Agency executive Hal Smith to lead the federal intelligence practice.
