The Coast Guard is gathering industry insights as it begins assessing a transition from manual paper health records to electronic records.
The Coast Guard wants the electronic health records acquisition (eHRa) solution deployed and managed on USCG computing and communications networks, while allowing for interoperability between the Defense Department and the Veterans Affairs Department, according to a new RFI.
The solution would enhance core and priority of USCG health care services and improve interaction and information sharing with both the DOD Military Health System and the VA’s health systems.
The solution also needs to meet connectivity, latency, and reliability requirements laid out in the Defense Information System Agency’s Operational Environments Mode environment.
In addition, the eHRa would better protect personally identifiable information and personal health information.
The Coast Guard issued the request for information April 23. Responses are due by May 26.
