Deloitte buys government, commercial cloud consulting contractor

Deloitte has purchased cloud consulting provider Day1 Solutions and will hire 3,000 new engineers under wider cloud investment initiative.

Deloitte has acquired McLean, Va.-based technology services provider Day1 Solutions as part of a cloud investment initiative.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed and Day1 adds new public sector work to the global consulting firm.

Day1’s cloud consulting work for government and commercial organizations covers areas such as systems integration, managed services and value-added reselling in support of Amazon Web Services products.

The company also brings to Deloitte a prime GSA Schedule 70 contract and subcontracting positions on other vehicles such as NASA SEWP IV and V, the Air Force’s Netcents-2 and the Army’s Information Technology Services – Small Business.

Deloitte will also add 3,000 new engineers to focus on work with organizations on cloud technology integration in areas such as analytics and cognitive offerings.

A majority of those engineers will operate out of three future cloud studios in Washington, D.C., Orlando and New York City that will expand the firm’s network of 44 Deloitte Digital studios.

The studios are intended to facilitate collaboration between Deloitte employees and customers on new cloud tool development.
