GSA explores new SIN for Schedule 70

The General Services Administration is exploring whether it should create a special item number or SIN for Earth observation solutions.

Earth observation solutions use geospatial and satellite imagery as part of the solution.

GSA is exploring the need to create the SIN because they have observed the growth of the Earth observation industry. It has more established companies as well as new entrants and newly deployed satellites, according to the request for information.

GSA also has partnered with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to use the schedule and other contract vehicles to help with the purchasing of commercial Earth observation solutions. NGA and GSA want to develop a government wide blanket purchase agreement for these solutions.

GSA said the need for geospatial solutions is growing across the government and having a SIN would help it be a “one-stop shop” for government buyers.

The SIN would be for IT Schedule 70 and would help distinguish geospatial solutions from other IT products and services on the schedule.
