Who are NVTC's top tech picks for 2016?

The Northern Virginia Technology Council has named the winners of the 2016 NVTC Tech Awards, which recognize influential leaders and innovative companies and firms in the region’s technology community.

The Northern Virginia Technology Council has named the winners of the 2016 NVTC Tech Awards, which recognize influential leaders and innovative companies and firms in the region’s technology community.

The finalists and winners are:

Tech Patent of the Year

  • Patrocinium Systems (WINNER)
  • AEGIS.net Inc.
  • Fractograf LLC
  • TransVoyant Inc.

Patrocinium patented a software solution called ArchAngel that allows first responders, security personnel and companies to share information during a crises. The company founders were inspired by the bombings at the Boston Marathon.

Tech Executive of the Year

  • Roger A. Krone, Leidos (WINNER)
  • Michael B. O’Neil, Jr., GetWellNetwork (WINNER)
  • Kimberley Hayes, The Ambit Group
  • John Sheputis, Infomart Data Centers
  • Doug Wagoner, SAIC

NVTC judges couldn't pick between Krone, CEO of Leidos, and Michael O'Neil Jr., founder and CEO of GetWellNetwork. Krone orchestrated Leidos' acquisition of Lockheed Martin's IT business. O'Neill founded GetWellNetwork after being diagnosed with cancer. He wanted to help hospitals improve performance and outcomes through patient engagement.

 

Tech Company of the Year Under $50 Million in Revenue

  • Higher Logic
  • Notarize
  • Virtru
  • Zoomdata

ScienceLogic was recognized for the development of a hybrid IT monitoring solutions that looks across the enterprise including internal systems and the cloud.

Tech Company of the Year Over $50 Million in Revenue

  • Optoro (WINNER) 
  • CSRA
  • Datapipe Government Solutions
  • GetWellNetwork
  • LookingGlass Cyber Solutions
  • Tenable Network Security

Optoro developed a supply chain management system that helps retailers track returns and excess inventory.
