Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems has been awarded another option, valued at $19.5 million, to continue its support of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) design agent and engineering services efforts.

This is the second option in just days to continue CEC support.

According to the Defense Department, CEC is a sensor netting system that significantly improves battle force anti-air warfare capability by extracting and distributing sensor-derived information such that the superset of this data is available to all participating CEC units.

The system improves battle force effectiveness by improving overall situational awareness and by enabling longer range, cooperative, multiple, or layered engagement strategies.

Work will be performed in St. Petersburg, Fla., and is expected to be completed in September 2017.
