The Federal Emergency Management Agency is looking for innovations and new technologies to aid in its asset tracking.

In a request for information, FEMA officials want to know how a company’s capabilities and technologies can support asset tracking for single and multimodal transportation and for shipping commodities on trailers, pallets, and in containers.

FEMA transports commodities using commercial trucks roughly 90 percent of the time. It uses commercial vessels roughly five percent of the time, and Defense Department and commercial aircraft approximately five percent of the time. They agency may even use one or all three modes of transportation as it ships assets to areas across the country.

FEMA is taking feedback and suggestions through April 5. The RFI was released March 11.
