Who won January's biggest contracts?

The first month of 2016 got the year off to a solid start with 46 contract awards, but how does that compare to last year, and who claimed the prize?

2016 got off to a solid start with a several dozen contract awards announced in the month of January.

Washington Technology reported on 46 contract awards in January, compared to a 45 awards in December and 46 awards in November.

To make the list in January, you had to have a contract with a value greater than $99 million.

This was a good month for Lockheed Martin, who had the sole ownership of two of the top 10 spots. Multiple award contracts claimed three of the top 10.

The top ten contracts of January are:

10. SOSSEC wins $99M contract to provide prototypes

System of Systems Security (SOSSEC) has won a $99 million contract to provide the Air Force with prototypes for C4ISR information sharing information systems.

9. Lockheed to streamline two processing systems under $100M IRS contract

Lockheed Martin has won a $100 million contract to support the Internal Revenue Service’s Submission Processing systems.

8. ManTech to support defense, intell modernization under $200M contract

ManTech International has won a $200 million contract to support Defense Department and intelligence community modernization.

7. CSRA wins $252M in new work at SEC

CSRA Inc. has won a $252.6 million contract to supply infrastructure support services to the Securities & Exchange Commission.

6. MacAulay-Brown partners with company under $450M SOCOM contract

MacAulay-Brown is serving as a partner to Mid Atlantic Professionals, which won a $450 million contract to support the U.S. Special Operations Command.

5. SAIC wins $485M EAST 2 contract to support NASA center

Science Applications International Corp. has won a $485 million contract to operate the NASA Enterprise Applications Competency Center.

4. Lockheed nets $528M contract to provide MDA with interceptors

Lockheed Martin has won a $528 million contract to produce and deliver to the Missile Defense Agency two interceptors for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system.

3. Six companies win spots on $538M tactical, strategic systems contract

Six companies have won spots on the Air Force’s $538 million Platform for Engineering and Integration of Tactical and Strategic Systems (PEITSS) contract.

2. Eight win $809.5M Navy process improvement contract

Eight companies have won spots on an $809.5 million contract to provide the Navy with process improvement, reengineering, management and data support services.

1. Ten small businesses win spots on $846M ERP contract

Ten small businesses have won spots on a $846 million contract to provide enterprise resource planning services to the Army.
