DISA wins spark real estate move

A pair of DISA contract wins in the last three months of 2015 led a small St. Louis-based contractor to bolster its presence in the Washington, D.C.-area.

Chameleon Integrated Services is a small disadvantaged business based in St. Louis. The company has been supporting DISA since 2005 but a pair of contract wins since August of last year pushed the company to open a new brick-and-mortar office in the Washington, D.C.-area.

“Having boots on the ground in the Washington, D.C. area will help us better serve DISA and allows us to be more effective at recruiting qualified local technology employees,” said Jeff Kelley, CEO and co-owner of Chameleon. “We are in the process of hiring dozens of new employees to help us fulfill the requirements of two new DISA contracts awarded to us in the fourth quarter of 2015.”

In October, the company won a $9.5 million contract to design, configure and deploy IT systems in a new global operations support center DISA is building at Scott Air Force Base.

In August, Chameleon won a $54 million DISA contract for IT operations support.

The company won both contracts under the DISA IT Enterprise Support Services vehicle.

The company has opened an office in Bowie, Md., for four full-time employees and to support 80 employees working nearby at Fort Meade.

“We want to grow our presence in Washington, D.C. as we seek to build more relationships across the defense agency sector,” said Drew Acree, president and co-owner of Chameleon.

Acree and Kelley founded Chameleon in 2003.
