Dell to deliver virtual desktop solution to FBI under $28M deal
Dell has won a $28 million contract with the Justice Department to provide the FBI with an virtual desktop infrastructure, which the company claims will be one of the largest in the federal government.
Dell has won a $28 million contract with the Justice Department to provide the FBI with an unclassified virtual desktop infrastructure.
The contract includes new Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances, which combine compute, storage and virtualization resources, as well as Dell Networking and Dell AppAssure data protection software, the company said. The solution is using Dell PowerEdge servers and is integrated with Nutanix hyper-converged software.
The contract will support up to 55,000 named users, mostly within the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and includes more than 600 Dell XC Series appliances.
The contract will allow the FBI to have lower ownership costs and bring faster time to value than other traditional virtual desktop solutions, Dell said.
Dell officials said this is one of the largest virtual desktop infrastructure deployments in the government market and will allow the FBI to expand the infrastructure as needed.
