Raytheon has won a $461.7 million contract with the Navy to support the MK15 Close-In Weapon System (CIWS).
The base value of this contract is $160 million, but options push the total higher.
CIWS is a fast-reaction terminal defense against anti-ship missile threats that have penetrated all other defenses.
The system operates either autonomously or is integrated with a combat system and can detect, track, engage, and destroy anti-ship missile threats penetrating outer defense, the Defense Department said in a release.
Under the contract, Raytheon will provide upgrades, conversions, system overhauls and associated hardware.
Work is expected to be completed in October 2018.
