Two win over $850M in contracts to produce, maintain MIDS system

Two companies have won contracts with the Navy to produce and maintain the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low Volume Terminal.

Two companies have won contracts with the Navy to produce and maintain the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low Volume Terminal.

The winners are:

  • ViaSat Inc. – $514.3 million
  • Data Link Solutions – $366.5 million

The MIDS system provides secure, high-capacity, jam-resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for Navy, Air Force and Army platforms.

Work will be performed in Carslbad, Calif., Wayne, N.J., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is expected to be completed in August 2020.

Both companies have won similar contracts in the past to either repair or modernize the MIDS system.
