ManTech expands cyber reach with KCG acquisition

ManTech International adds to its cybersecurity capabilities with the acquisition of Knowledge Consulting Group.

ManTech International Corp. has added to its cybersecurity capabilities through the acquisition of the Knowledge Consulting Group, a Reston, Va., company that advises both government and commercial clients.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but ManTech said it will fund the acquisition through cash on hand and through an existing line of credit.

KCG was founded in 2000 and provides cybersecurity solutions in areas such as risk assurance, cyber operations, and infrastructure security.

The company also holds a coveted accreditation as a Third-Party Assessment Organization known as 3PAO through the FedRAMP program. The accreditation puts KCG at the forefront of cloud security for government agencies, ManTech said in its announcement.

Major customers include the departments of Homeland Security and Justice.

The acquisition brings 200 cybersecurity professionals to ManTech. They will be folded into the company’s Mission, Cyber and Intelligence Solutions Group, under L. William Varner.

“The acquisition of KCG fits with our strategy of expanding into the growing cyber services and homeland security markets,” said ManTech Chairman and CEO Officer George J. Pedersen.

ManTech is ranked No. 28 on the 2015 Washington Technology Top 100 list of the largest government contractors.
