Northrop to provide four radar systems to Navy under $207.3M contract

Northrop Grumman has won a $207.3 million contract to provide the Navy with four ground/air task-oriented radar systems (G/ATOR).

The G/ATOR system is a short-to-medium range radar system that is designed to detect targets such as rockets, artillery, mortars, cruise missiles and unmanned aircraft systems, the Defense Department said in a release.

It is employed by the Marine Air Ground Task Force.

Under the contract, Northrop will provide the four systems as well as operating spares, engineering services and support, developmental and operational test support and transition to production services.

Work will take place mainly at Northrop’s offices in Linthicum Heights, Md., and is expected to be completed by October 2017.
