Ibis Biosciences has won a $7.2 million contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to develop a portable biosensor system.
The Portable Unit for Metabolic Analysis (PUMA) Biosensor system is a new point-of-care, hand-held device meant for use in the field with molecular diagnostics for screening viruses, respiratory pathogens and bio threats, the Defense Department said in a release.
Work will be performed in Carlsbad, Calif., and is expected to be completed by April 30, 2015.
