Raytheon wins $55M contract to complete analyses of landing systems

Raytheon Co. has won a $55.2 million contract with the Navy to complete analyses of the Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems.

The Joint Precision Approach and Landing System, or JPALS, is a military landing system based on real-time differential correction of the GPS signal, augmented with a local area correction message, and transmitted to the user securely.

Under the contract, Raytheon will complete the development of manufacturing and production strategy, conduct risk reduction activities supporting JPALS requirements, and manage and plan the JPALS program technical and business objectives, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in Fullerton, Calif., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is expected to be completed by July 2015.

Funding in the amount of $6 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of fiscal 2014.
