Northrop nabs $31.5M contract to support bio-chem warning network

Northrop Grumman has won a $31.5 million contract to provide the Navy with software development and maintenance.

The contract has a base  value of $7.6 million.

The software development and maintenance services will support JPEO-Chem-Bio Defense, Joint Program Manager, Information Systems, Joint Warning and Reporting Network, the Defense Department said.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will provide updates to support modernization efforts to the currently fielded Joint Warning and Reporting Network product baseline, carry forward existing functionality and develop new capabilities that will provide joint automated chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear warning and reporting capability across the services, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Herndon, Va., and is expected to be completed in December 2018, with options.

Funding in the amount of $1.3 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of fiscal 2014.

Three bids were received for this contract.
