General Dynamics C4 Systems has won a $96 million task order to provide technology upgrades for the Warfighter Information Network – Tactical Increment 2, which improves network capacity, system reliability, robustness and ease of use.

This is the first task order awarded under the $475 million WIN-T Increment 3 contract that the company won at the beginning of this month.

Increment 3 is the research and development increment for the WIN-T networking program.

Under this task order, General Dynamics will provide technology upgrades for the WIN-T Increment 2, which improves network capacity, system reliability, robustness and ease of use.

The technology upgrades to be included in this contract are related to a line-of-sight communications layer that will thicken the WIN-T network using a UAV to increase communications flexibility and capacity, both of which are vital to forces operating in isolated areas, General Dynamics said.

Work will be performed in Taunton, Mass.
