Navmar wins $11.2M option for unmanned aerial systems

Navmar Applied Sciences has won a $11.2 million option with the U.S. Navy to provide hardware in support of unmanned aerial systems.

Despite being awarded by the Navy, Navmar Applied Sciences will provide support for these persistent surveillance unmanned aerial systems for the Army, the Defense Department said.

The company will also provide 15 Tiger Shark unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as 15 i200 turrets that will be integrated into the unmanned system, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Fairfax, Va., Raleigh, N.C., and Afghanistan, and is expected to be completed by January 2014.

Funding in the amount of $11.2 million was obligated at the time of the award, and will not expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
