Lockheed wins $112M contract for undersea warfare systems

Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training has won a $111.5 million contract with the U.S. Navy for the development, integration and production of undersea warfare systems.

Under the cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-only, firm-fixed-price contract, the company will develop, integrate and produce AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 Surface Ship Undersea Warfare Systems.

This system has the capabilities to search, detect, classify, localize and track undersea contacts, and to engage and evade submarines, mine-like small objects and torpedo threats, the Defense Department said in a release.

This contract is for Japan, under the Foreign Military Sales program.

Work will be performed in Lemont Furnace, Pa., Syracuse, N.Y., Manassas, Va., Clearwater, Fla., Oswego, N.Y., Hauppauge, N.Y., and in Tewksbury, Mass., and is expected to be completed by May 2014.

Funds in the amount of $350,000 were obligated at the time of the award, none of which will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
