OPM plans contract for data center consolidation

The Office of Personnel Management wants a small-business contractor to help it consolidate five of its data centers into a single commercial location.

OPM issued a request for proposals for the contract, which will be a 100 percent set-aside for small businesses.

The due date for proposals is March 11.

The agency wants a data center hosting service that can host OPM-owned IT resources and to physically isolated those resources from other services or cloud offerings that the contractor may provide, the solicitation states.

The contractor needs to provide floor space, power, air conditioning, network cross connecting, and physical security.

The agency is planning a one-year, fixed-price contract with nine one-year options.
