Who won GSA's $2.5B cloud-based email contract?

Seventeen companies have won contracts worth a total of $2.5 billion with the General Services Administration to sell cloud-based email services to government agencies.

The blanket purchase agreements should make it easier for agencies to move to cloud services, GSA said.

Twenty BPAs were awarded to 17 companies. Federal, state, local and tribal governments can use the contract, the agency said.

The winning contractors are:

  • Accenture Federal Services LLC
  • Autonomic Resources LLC
  • CGI Federal Inc.
  • Ciracom Inc.
  • Computer Sciences Corp.
  • Dell Federal Systems
  • DLT Solutions
  • General Dynamics Information Technology
  • Harris IT Services
  • IBM Corp.
  • Lockheed Martin
  • Onix Networking Corp.
  • Science Applications International Corp.
  • Smartronix Inc.
  • SRA International
  • Technosource LLC
  • Unisys Corp.

The companies will compete for work under the BPA. Services to be sold include email, cloud-based office automation, electronic records management, migration services and integration services.

GSA claims that moving to the cloud can save agencies up to 50 percent of their email costs each year. Agencies can save $1 million for every 7,500 email boxes. GSA moved its email to the cloud last year and said it has saved $2 million today. It expects to save $15 million over the next five years.
