Raytheon scores $81M contract with U.S. Army

Raytheon Co. to provide Army with battlefield information systems.

Raytheon Co. won a $81 million contract from the U.S. Army to develop and create a new Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System.

The contract spans a period of two years, and has a 12-month, $18 million option.

The system provides command and control capabilities to forces on the ground, from mission planning to execution.

It produces an operational picture, which can be crucial to planning, coordinating and controlling battlefield elements, such as mortars, naval gunfire and offensive electronic warfare. It will also serve field artillery cannons, rockets and guided missiles.

The data system delivers “complete and accurate information” on the battlefield environment, said Kim Kerry, vice president of C4I Systems for Raytheon’s network centric systems business. Soldiers will “be able to select the right weapons for the right targets at the right time,” Kerry said.
