Harris expands IT services on Air Force networks

Current modernizing of Air Force network systems will include AFNet hardware with system engineering, and software configuration.

Harris Corp. has won a one-year, $6.8 million award to deliver integration and maintenance support to the Air Force Materiel Command under the Network-Centric Solutions contract vehicle.

Harris is currently upgrading and modernizing Air Force network systems at several bases within the continental U.S., the company reported on Jan. 5.

Specifically, Harris will support AFNet hardware with system engineering, management of technical publications, Tier 2 and Tier 3 response center support, software configuration, and on-site system support, the announcement said.

The Harris team includes subcontractor BAE Systems.

Harris, of Melbourne, Fla., ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
