CSC option pickup continues IT, procurement support for NASA

With NASA exercising the second option period of its Shared Services Center contract, CSC will continue to provide the financial management, IT and other support to the space agency.

Computer Sciences Corp. has received a $41 million modification exercising the second option period of the NASA Shared Services Center contract that CSC won in 2005.

As a result, CSC will continue to provide the NSSC with financial management, human resources, procurement and information technology support, according to an Oct. 27 CSC announcement.

The NSSC, which performs selected business activities for all 10 NASA centers, is a cooperative partnership among NASA, CSC, Mississippi and Louisiana, the announcement explained.

“By standardizing and consolidating support services in financial management, human resources, IT and procurement, CSC is supporting the efforts of the NASA Shared Services Center that allow NASA to focus more of its time and resources on critical mission objectives,” Mike Gaffney, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Civil Group, said in the announcement.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
