CSC tasked with continuing DHS emergency telecom services

The $86 million task order supports the National Communications System

Computer Sciences Corp. has won a four-year task order worth an estimated $86 million to continue providing emergency telecommunications services to the Homeland Security Department.

Under the award, CSC will provide engineering and planning, implementation and integration, communications, and operations, administration and maintenance support for the priority telecommunications services of the National Communications System, according to an Oct. 4 announcement.

The services cover the Government Emergency Telecommunications Service and Wireless Priority Service, which give federal, state, local, tribal and other authorized users priority access to telecommunications services during crises.

In performing this work, CSC will partner with national and regional telecommunications service providers and their equipment vendors, the announcement said.

The task order, which was issued under the DHS Eagle contract that was awarded to CSC in 2006, is in response to a White House directive to meet the needs of authorized National Security/Emergency Preparedness communications users under all levels of stress.

CSC Corp., of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
