CGI upgrades IT systems at Canadian justice ministry

The CGI Group Inc. will overhaul Quebec's Department of Justice IT systems under a five-year contract valued at $24.5 million Canadian.

Under the terms of the agreement, CGI will be responsible for the development, operation and upgrading of the technology systems and infrastructures of the department’s Direction des registres et de la certification (DRC), according to a company announcement of Sept. 21.

CGI will be entrusted with a number of consulting, developmental and upgrade mandates. The company also will be responsible for managing the DRC’s public key infrastructure, which is used by government departments and agencies to secure electronic transactions, the announcement said.

In addition, CGI will provide technical support for the DRC's technology infrastructures.

Because the quality and performance of electronic services is crucial to the DRC’s mission,CGI will serve as its Web solutions expert to help improve its client service levels.

CGI Group Inc., of Montreal, Que., ranks No. 41 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
