Raytheon buys cyber solutions provider

Giant contractor acquires Trusted Computer Solutions

Raytheon Co. has acquired Trusted Computer Solutions, a Herndon, Va., provider of cross-domain, operating system and network security solutions.

Financial terms were not reported.

The acquisition of the private company is the seventh transaction related to the cybersecurity market for Raytheon since 2007, further advancing the company’s ability to deliver the end-to-end cyber solutions, the company said in announcing the purchase.

Founded in 1994, Trusted Computer Solutions specializes in cross-domain and cybersecurity software and services to manage and share information securely across multiple classification levels and domains.

The newly acquired company will be known as Raytheon Trusted Computer Solutions and will be integrated into Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems business within the Information Security Solutions product line.

The transaction is not expected to materially affect Raytheon’s sales or earnings per share for the fourth quarter of 2010 or fiscal year 2011, the company said.

Raytheon Co., of Waltham, Mass., ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
