Dell Federal creates chief operations leader position

Richard Pineda previously led the company's DOD sector

Richard Pineda has been named chief operations leader of Dell Services Federal Government Division, effective immediately.

In this newly created position, Pineda, most recently general manager of the company’s Defense Department Division, will be responsible for the company’s business operations and service delivery to its federal customers, according to a Dell announcement today.

He will report to Lee Carrick, vice president of Dell Services Federal Government.

Since joining Dell Services, formerly Perot Systems, in March 1997, Pineda has been instrumental in the growth of the organization’s consulting, business process outsourcing, and information technology services, the company statement said.

He also helped expand the company’s presence in the federal marketplace in areas of financial analysis, information technology project management, and federal travel reengineering.

Pineda previously held key managerial consulting positions in the banking and management consulting industries.

He is a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers and the National Defense Industrial Association.

Pineda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from The George Washington University.

Dell Computer Corp., of Round Rock, Texas, ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal contractors.
