Apptis names Nowland to COO position

Apptis Inc. has appointed Skip Nowland its chief operating officer. He previously served as company president and general manager of the defense and national security sector.

Apptis Inc. has appointed Skip Nowland its chief operating officer. He previously served as company president and general manager of the defense and national security sector.

Nowland previously held senior executive positions at SAIC Corp., Booz Allen Hamilton and MCI before joining Apptis in 2005, when the government information technology and communications services company acquired SETA Corp.

Nowland began his industry career in 1993, after retiring from the Army following a 26-year military career during which he served in a wide variety of key command and staff positions.

"Nowland is a strong leader who embodies the attributes that have led to the continued growth and success of Apptis,” said Bert Notini, Apptis chairman and chief executive officer.

Apptis, of Chantilly, Va., ranks No. 50 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
