L-3 to continue B-2 training support

Options might raise value to more than $400 million

An L-3 Communications division will continue supporting the Air Force’s B-2 training program under a one-year, $22.8 million contract.

Under the contract, L-3 Link Simulation and Training division will provide a wide range of contractor logistics support services and also run a support center, company officials said May 11. The division will maintain training devices for both flight and maintenance operations, as well as supply software, hardware and courseware.

If all options are exercised over an eight-year period, the contract value could exceed $400 million, the officials said.

The B-2 training devices are located at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. L-3 Link’s facilities in Binghamton, N.Y., and Arlington, Texas, provide direct support to the contract.

L-3 Communications ranks No. 8 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
