AMS hires former South Carolina CIO

American Management Systems Inc., Fairfax, Va., has hired Matthew DeZee, former chief information officer for South Carolina, for its digital government and technology unit, the company announced Oct. 15.

DeZee served as South Carolina CIO from July 2001 to Sept. 2002. Before working for the state, he spent two years as director of computing and global telecommunications operations for the Central Intelligence Agency. DeZee also served as chairman of the security team at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.

DeZee will join Steve Kolodney, who was CIO for Washington state and also works for AMS in that unit. Both hold titles as vice presidents for the company.
