Service industry wins profit war:
The service industry persuaded Defense Department officials to modify an interim rule that would have reduced profit margins for professional and technical services companies from a long-standing level of 8 percent to as low as 3 percent. Instead, the industry will accept a 1 percent reduction in profit margins, the same reduction the Pentagon is imposing on the manufacturing and hardware sectors, as part of a cost-saving effort.

Tell me again why the federal market is attractive.

Agencies, resellers vie for government data: Spurred by lobbyists, Congress is preparing to further curb federal agencies' efforts to sell government data, such as agency reports and medical studies. The most important concern is that agencies may try to unfairly limit or charge for some portions of especially valuable databases, such as census information, said one House staff member.

If the government isn't trying to hide information, it's trying to sell it.
