Computer Sciences Corp., El Segundo, Calif., was named program manager for the Land Warrior Consortium, a group of companies developing the Army's next-generation, networked infantry gear.

CSC leads a team that includes Exponent Inc., Menlo Park, Calif.; Omega Training Group, Columbus, Ga.; Pemstar Pacific Consultants, Mountain View, Calif.; Pemstar Corp., Rochester, Minn.; and the Wexford Group, Vienna, Va.

The program seeks to network battle dress and weaponry for the Army's infantry, Ranger and special operations forces. The new systems will integrate weapon-mounted video cameras with network-based wireless communications, wearable computers and helmet-mounted monocle displays that can project video, maps and other documents.

CSC has participated in the Land Warrior program since February 2000.
