Electronic Data Systems Corp. of Plano, Texas, announced April 5 a realignment of its largest business units and the promotion of three key executives.
The changes will leverage EDS' traditional information technology outsourcing strength into the growing markets for business process outsourcing and IT solutions consulting, according to a company statement.
EDS serves companies and governments in 60 countries and had $21.5 billion in revenue in 2001. Effective April 15, the company will combine elements of its Information Solutions, E Solutions and Business Process Management lines of business into two new organizations: Operations Solutions and Solutions Consulting.
Operations Solutions will integrate the company's traditional, IT outsourcing operations ? centralized and distributed systems and communications management ? with its business process outsourcing capability. Solutions Consulting will combine EDS' E Solutions implementation consulting capability with its applications services business.
The new Solutions Consulting organization, with 40,000 professionals and revenue in excess of $7 billion, will have greater resources than most of the Big Five consulting firms that have dominated the market, EDS said.
Doug Frederick, president of Information Solutions, has been named executive vice president and sector executive for Operations Solutions. EDS' government business will remain under Frederick in the Operations Solutions business, said EDS spokeswoman Eileen Cassidy.
Paulett Eberhart, president of Information Solutions U.S., has been named president of Solutions Consulting. Both Frederick and Eberhart will report directly to Dick Brown, chairman and chief executive officer.
