Anderson Wins Industry Award

Herbert Anderson, president of Northrop Grumman Information Technology, received the 2001 industry executive of year award at the Post Newsweek Government Awards gala in Washington Oct. 24. Anderson received his award for his contributions to cost-effective government IT solutions.

Anderson became president and chief executive officer in July 1998 when Northrop Grumman Corp. combined its data systems and services units and its Logicon subsidiary into a single organization. In the past year, he also has been involved in major acquisitions by Northrop Grumman that brought Federal Data Corp., Litton TASC and Litton PRC under his purview.

Government winners at the annual gala included Joseph Cipriano of the Navy and Jackie Fletcher of the U.S. Mint, who were named government executives of the year.

Cipriano, program executive officer and enterprise acquisition manager for Navy IT, accepted the award for fielding the $6.9 billion Navy-Marine Corps Intranet and for enterprise software development. Fletcher is associate director and chief information officer of the Mint. She revamped the agency's IT environment with an enterprise resource planning system and a successful e-commerce site.
