ITT Industries Inc. of White Plains, N.Y., won a $77.3 million contract to provide operations and maintenance support to the U.S. Military Command and Control Switching System at 19 locations in five countries worldwide.

ITT will provide support at a variety of critical locations, including the White House, the U.S. Air Force-Europe headquarters in Ramstein, Germany, and the U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. Work under the contract will be performed by ITT's Systems Division.

The Command and Control Switching System provides switching capabilities in support of the Defense Red Switch Network, a high-level communications system that allows authorized users to transmit critical, sensitive and classified information in a completely secure environment.

With this win, ITT said it has become the premier provider of this service to the U.S. military. The company also operates and maintains Red Switches on the Wing Communications Operations and Maintenance and Operations, Maintenance and Supply-Europe projects and has recently been tasked to operate and maintain another switch in Kuwait as an option to the Total Army Communications-Southwest Asia contract.
