Viador Wins San Diego Portal Job

Viador Inc. of Mountain View, Calif., has won a contract to provide the city of San Diego with an information services portal, the company said April 11.

Viador was selected for the project by San Diego Data Processing Corp., the city's technology agency. The value of the award was not disclosed in the announcement.

The Viador-powered portal will be a key enabling technology for an automated system that catalogues and indexes existing information, allowing electronically archived information to be searched, accessed and distributed by users.

The portal will allow local government officials and city residents to access key information online, from press releases to streaming video of recent press conferences, said Viador.

Viador has more than a dozen federal customers, including the Federal Aviation Administration, Internal Revenue Service and departments of Education, Energy and State. Many of these contracts are a result of partnerships with systems integrators, said the company.

Viador has strategic partnerships for e-government business with Affiliated Computer Services Inc. of Dallas; Deloitte Consulting of New York; IBM Corp. of Armonk, N.Y.; and SAP America Inc. of Newtown Square, Pa.

Viador has about 250 employees and had sales of $29 million in fiscal 2000, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
