Unisys Wins Hong Kong's First IT Outsourcing Contract

Unisys Corp. of Blue Bell, Pa., late last week won the Hong Kong government's first departmentwide information technology outsourcing contract.

Unisys' contract with the Hong Kong Judiciary Department is worth $88 million in Hong Kong dollars ($11.28 million U.S.) over five years. It covers the development of new systems, including public information kiosks and public payment system, a pilot electronic filing project for Inland Revenue Department claims and ongoing systems support and maintenance.

Existing government IT employees at Judiciary will be shifted elsewhere, according to a spokesman for Hong Kong's IT services department. He added the IT department the Judiciary Department will monitor Unisys' performance on the project.
